С 3 по 4 декабря 2016 года в Варне (Болгария), прошло 5-е Открытое Первенство мира по киокусинкай каратэ среди юношей, девушек, юниоров и юниорок по кумитэ. В турнире приняли участие около 700 спортсменов из 31 страны.
К участию в соревнованиях допускались представители национальных федераций, прошедших отбор на национальных чемпионатах с приглашением всех заинтересованных групп киокушин в данной стране, в возрасте от 12 до 17 лет со стилевой квалификацией не ниже 6 кю.
